From the Principal

Kurunjang Primary School is situated on the northern side of Melton in the suburb of Kurunjang and next to Kurunjang Secondary College. The school was established in 1989 and has well established and attractive buildings including a personal learning studio with cooking facilities. We have a current enrolment of 420 students with 29 teaching staff and 16 Education Support staff to support students with disabilities and impairments. At Kurunjang Primary School we have a clear focus on high expectations of students and staff and on improving learning outcomes. Our curriculum programs focus on developing the whole child’s strengths in literacy, numeracy, leadership and the specialist areas of Visual Arts and Music, Physical Education and Sport. Our students enjoy their classroom libraries, independent reading, independent writing and numeracy problems of the day. Teachers work with the school based literacy and numeracy coaches and literacy consultant to enhance their curriculum knowledge and teaching practices. We are focused on every child succeeding and value partnerships with families and our local community to achieve that success. We are one of a number of schools in Victoria in the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support program. We are committed to explicitly teaching the three R’s – Respect, Responsibility and Rights through our student engagement and leadership programs to provide a learning environment that is safe, orderly, positive and promotes success.

Our school motto is “Learning Together”. We would welcome your involvement and partnership with your child’s education.
